I organized a lunch meeting yesterday for two young aspiring entrepreneurs to meet a friend of mine and his wife who used to work in Shell and has successfully founded an engineering consultancy company some 13 years ago. It is part of my personal effort to mentor young businessmen to help them become successful. I capture below a few key points of our sharing over lunch:
- Do, Learn and Adapt. In MBA courses and in the corporate world, we are trained to think and plan long-term. For Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s), it is about Trying, Doing, Learning and Adapting. What you plan may not work out the way you want it to be. You have to test things out by doing to see if indeed what you think and plan is what the customers will pay for your products and services. Continue reading
